Ford Fund Fosters Excellence in Academics; Awards $50,000 in Scholarships to San Antonio High School Seniors

SAN ANTONIO, TX, May 3, 2019 – Ford Driving Dreams, a signature educational initiative of Ford Motor Company Fund, returns to San Antonio once again to celebrate 25 talented high school seniors who won scholarships through their participation in the “What Drives Your Dreams?” essay contest. Ford Fund is the philanthropic arm of the Ford Motor Company.

“The scholarships are part of Ford’s overall education efforts in San Antonio to empower students to graduate on time and pursue their college dreams. We are proud of the academic achievements of these students and committed to helping them start their college journey,” said Joe Ávila, Manager, Community Development, U.S. & Latin America.
Each contest winner will receive a $2,000 scholarship. The scholarship ceremony took place at Sunset Station in San Antonio, May 2, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. Roy Juarez, Jr., a motivational speaker and passionate advocate of higher education, joined students, parents and local Ford dealers to inspire students to never give up in the pursuit of their highest academic dreams.

“At Ford, we believe in making people’s lives better and providing educational opportunities to our youth is crucial to our efforts. We want to inspire them and give them access to tools that will fuel their academic goals,” said Larry Gach, regional sales manager, Ford Motor Company.

Ford Driving Dreams has impacted more than 200,000 students across the United States, Puerto Rico, and Latin America since it was launched in 2012. The initiative has delivered more than $10 million in educational resources. The scholarships are administered by the LULAC National Education Service Center, Inc. (LNESC). In addition to Ford Driving Dreams, Ford Fund educational programs in the United States include Ford Blue Oval Scholars, Ford Next Generation Learning, Ford College Community Challenge, and the Ford STEAM Lab.
