MIAMI, April 26, 2018 – Ford Fund, the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company, gave 40 local students the opportunity to attend Hispanicize 2018 – the largest annual event for Latino trendsetters and newsmakers in digital content creation, journalism, marketing, entertainment and tech entrepreneurship. Part of Ford’s Driving Dreams education program, the initiative was designed to create digital engagement and media mentorship opportunities for selected students in the Miami area.
The participating students from multiple local-area schools were preselected by ASPIRA of Florida to become an all-access digital #FordFluencer and storyteller during this widely renowned conference. With their involvement in as a #FordFluencer at Hispanicize, local students were exposed to exciting industry trends, cutting-edge technological insights and valuable networks they would not otherwise have the opportunity to experience.
The students were engaged and challenged through media missions and activities, thus empowering them to assert themselves as ingenious content creators. Brand new tablets were awarded to the six students with the highest number of social media posts. The posts published by the students during the conference garnered over 2.9 million impressions in Instagram and Twitter.
This initiative aligns with Ford Driving Dreams’ overall commitment to enabling students to excel both personally and professionally through leadership development, community engagement and exposure to valuable opportunities.
The Ford Driving Dreams program was launched in 2012 and, to date, has reached more than 100,000 students in California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, and Texas. Ford Driving Dreams initiatives have delivered more than $10 million in educational resources. In addition to Ford Driving Dreams, Ford Fund educational programs in the United States include Ford Blue Oval Scholars, Ford Next Generation Learning, Ford College Community Challenge, and the Ford STEAM Lab.
