Ford Fund Promotes Academic Success in San Antonio, Awards $50,000 in Scholarships
- Ford Fund awards $50,000 in scholarships to 25 San Antonio high school students to help them pursue higher education
- Students participate in an Instagram contest to showcase what drives their dreams and win prizes
- Since 2012, Ford Driving Dreams has impacted more than 100,000 students in California, Illinois, Indiana, Florida, Panama, Puerto Rico, and Texas
SAN ANTONIO, TX. May 3, 2018 – Ford Driving Dreams, a signature educational program of the Ford Motor Company Fund, returns to San Antonio to celebrate the achievements of the 25 high school students who won scholarships through the ‘What Drives Your Dreams?’ essay contest.

further if we invest in their potential so they can reach their dreams even faster.”
At an evening event at Sunset Station in San Antonio, 25 high school students will be awarded $50,000 in scholarships. Joaquin Zihuatanejo, a motivational speaker who is also a poet and award-winning teacher, will join students, parents and Ford regional representatives at the event to inspire students to pursue their academic goals and never give up. The scholarships are administered by the LULAC National Education Service Center, Inc. (LNESC).
Ford Driving Dreams promotes the importance of education starting at an early age, through high school and into college. Ford Fund is the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company.
“At Ford, we understand how crucial education is for our youth. We want to make sure that students are able to thrive academically by providing them the resources necessary to do well in school.” said Larry Gach, regional sales manager, Ford Motor Company.
The Ford Driving Dreams program was launched in 2012, and to date has reached more than 100,000 students in California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico, and Texas. Ford Driving Dreams initiatives, including the Tour, have delivered more than $10 million in educational resources. In addition to Ford Driving Dreams, Ford Fund educational programs in the United States include Ford Blue Oval Scholars, Ford Next Generation Learning, Ford College Community Challenge, and the Ford STEAM Lab.
