DALLAS, May 23, 2018 – In its fourth consecutive year, Ford Motor Company Fund collaborated to match every dollar invested by the North Texas Ford dealers to award over $500,000 in Ford Driving Dreams scholarships to more than 250 senior high school students. North Texas Ford dealers and Ford Fund have contributed more than $3.5 million and impacted close to 35,000 students in the North Texas area since the collaboration began in 2015.

“Education is integral to strengthen our communities. At Ford Fund, we are committed to investing in the education and empowerment of our youth,” said Joe Ávila, manager, community development, U.S. and Latin America, Ford Motor Company Fund. “Our collaborative work with the North Texas Ford dealers demonstrates Ford’s strong commitment to help our future generation of leaders succeed.”

Ford Motor Company Fund, the philanthropic arm of Ford Motor Company, celebrated the scholarship recipients at an evening event filled with surprises at the American Airlines Center. At the celebration, students, parents, and community leaders heard from national empowerment speaker Rock T, who shared his philanthropic and entrepreneurial achievements with the students to motivate them to pursue their dreams. Ford dealers and Ford regional executives also attended the celebration.

“The North Texas Ford dealers are excited to continue collaborating with Ford Fund to empower the communities where we do business,” said Chris Rushwin, Dallas regional manager, Ford Motor Company. “The thing we love the most about investing in the Ford Driving Dreams scholarship program, is that we are making a difference and driving students to pursue and succeed in a college career.”

Launched in 2012, Ford Driving Dreams was designed by Ford Motor Company Fund to help youth graduate on time and pursue higher education. Ford Driving Dreams’ initiatives have delivered more than $10 million in educational resources such as scholarships, college preparedness, tutoring programs, parental engagement, and motivational activities. The scholarships are administered by LULAC National Educational Service Centers, Inc. (LNESC).

North Texas is one of 26 markets in the United States and Puerto Rico where Ford and its dealers have expanded their commitment to meet community needs by collaborating on programs and nonprofit outreach. The initiative, known as Operation Better World, was launched in 2008. Follow us @FordDrivingDreams on Facebook and Instagram, and with #forddrivingdreams on Twitter.
